Situated in the Wucheng Town Yongxiu County bordered on the west branch of Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China, Wucheng Migratory Birds Town Scenic Spot of Poyang Lake occupies an area of 18 square kilometers for its core land. It is also located in the Class A World Migratory Birds Reserve and National Natural Reserve of Poyang Lake in Jiangxi Province.
The Scenic Spot has a special sight of migratory birds rested on the heritage town, and is built to the Integrated Entrance Service Area, Ecological Preservation Area of Migratory Birds, Sightseeing and Knowledge Communication Area of Migratory Birds and Wucheng Stories. Historical Wucheng Town of Thousand Years, Heaven of Birds of Thousand Miles. The Scenic Spot is renowned as "World Wetland, Kingdom of Migratory Birds, Millennial Ancient Town, Desert in Water". Within the ecological area of Poyang Lake, an important reserve in the world, white cranes as the Bird of Jiangxi Province, who live through the winter, get together with other rare varieties, here equipped with Dahu Pool, Changhu Pool and Zhushi Lake bird-watching platforms; Wucheng Town, one of four famous towns in Jiangxi Province, has a history of more than 2200 years. Cranes dancing in the Poyang Lake Dreams rising in the Wucheng Town Known as "The Most Beautiful Wetland in China" and "one of top ten scenes in Jiangxi Province", Wucheng Town is one of "top ten ancient cultural towns in Jiangxi Province". It was rated as one of provincial ecological towns of the 11th session in Jiangxi Province in 2018. In 2019, it was included into the list of special provincial towns in Jiangxi Province. In December 2019, it was awarded the first "Chinese Migratory Town" by China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA).
